| This artistically created book tells the story of a young girl growing up among wildlife researchers in the north woods. She finds her way into womanhood through the important relationships in her life, including the old Finnish ladies who share the sauna, two wolverines escaped from their observation pen, and the northern native people with whom she spends a winter. Generously illustrated with delicate watercolors, the story is beautiful and gentle, yet it will move you to tears and make you grin.

AWARD WINNER!
Lupine Award Chairwoman Connie Cushing says, “I can’t say enough how much Kristin’s Wilderness touched us. While we look at many — about 70 books each year — it is not often that one gets the sense as soon as it is taken from the box that it is something very special. Kristin’s Wilderness is the most remarkable book that I have read since being on the committee.”
Jan Hamilton from Prince Memorial Library tells us, “The story is powerful, the illustrations lovely, and the overall appearance is close to perfect.”
James A. Cox from the Midwest Book Review writes, “Kristin’s Wilderness is a wondrous chapter book for readers aged eight to eighty … The paintings especially capture the mood and majesty of the natural world … in this gentle and heartwarming tribute to coming of age …”
